On Thursday of last week President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil attended the inauguration of Beira Rio stadium in Porto Alegre. The FIFA World Cup venue has been extensively redeveloped at a cost of over 330 million Reais and the work has taken two years. Altogether the new site ( on the banks of the Guiba River) is expected to host five World Cup matches in June of this year, seating up to fifty thousand spectators each time. –
