President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil was guest of honour recently at the ‘National Grape Festival’ celebrations in the city of Caxias do Sul. In her address to the gathering she also referred to the country’s forthcoming hosting of the FIFA soccer World Cup tournament.

She emphasised that the competition will provide friendly, good-natured rivalry, protected by reliable but flexible security for everyone’s benefit (the day before she had explained that specialist elements of the armed forces may well provide extra security if required).

“It’s a World Cup of peace” she remarked and expressed her hope and belief that the harmonious intentions of the events will indeed be realised in a positive spirit.
